The Medicine Ball Slam

One of my all time favourite exercises, the medicine ball slam is an excellent form of upper body plyometric training designed to enhance all-round power & strength. The movement can help enhance overall athletic performance improve cardiovascular conditioning & develop multi-directional core strength. Its a great total body exercise. Your lower body & core have to engage & help protect your spine as you perform the forceful throws.

The benefits:

Slams really do hit just about every major muscle group, making them an excellent addition to high-intensity workout routines.

Even though the movement looks upper-body focus your lower-body & core also have to engage to provide the power & spring for the lift & throw. This requires coordination between your upper & lower body to maintain the flow of the exercise.

So Medicine Ball Slams require your core muscles including your glutes, abdominals, lower back, spinal etectors & even your rotator cuffs to work together to power the movement.

This means it will help enhance core strength & stability.
